KEN BROOKINS Associate Pastor/Music

Associate Pastor/Music

It all started when...

We bring our worship to a God who delights in the praise of His people. In all that we sing and play, we desire to engage all ages in the corporate and personal privilege of worship.

Our purpose in worship is to:

  1. Honor God

  2. Exalt the Savior

  3. Proclaim the good news of Jesus

  4. Point people to the saving message of the cross

Our adult choir and orchestra help lead our worship services each Sunday morning.  We ask that you attend at least two consecutive rehearsals before joining us in leading worship on Sunday.

Wednesday 6:00-7:15 is our choir rehearsal held in the music suite in the worship center.

Wednesday from 6:45-7:45, the orchestra joins the adult choir in the music suite to rehearse at the same time.

If you are interested in joining the adult choir or orchestra, come into a rehearsal or contact Kim Strickland in the music office at

The young adult music ministry consists of mostly people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who cannot commit to weekly rehearsals, but still desire a musical community with which to serve.  This group rehearses in the music suite on the first Sunday of each month directly following the service.  Beyond singing and leading worship once a month in our services, this group is also connected with our community by serving outside the walls of our church.

Children’s and Preschool CHOIRS

At First Baptist, we put a priority on raising our children in God’s Word so that the ideas behind worship truly stick in their hearts and minds. This is done through Bible teaching, singing Scripture, and presenting musicals with a Godly message.  They present musicals twice a year: once at Christmas and once in the spring.

Preschool Choir meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:15 in the student building.  These classes are divided into classes for children ages 3, 4, and 5.

Children’s Choir meets on Wednesday nights from 5:45-6:30 in the student building.

Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy.
