JOB SUMMARY
At First Baptist Church of Panama City, our mission is to go and make disciples of all nations by evangelizing and teaching people how to become fully mature followers of Jesus Christ. The Food Service Director position will have direct responsibilities to oversee food purchasing, preparing and serving. Responsibilities include all aspects of providing food and beverage for various weekly and monthly needs as well as special events and activities that arise and are submitted by BEO request and approved by the Business Administrator. Maintain the kitchen in a clean and organized manner.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
1. The applicant must submit to a criminal history background check and drug screening.
2. Have the ability to apply training and understanding to carry out instructions given in English; written, oral, or diagram form.
3. Use discretion and confidentiality in all matters related to church members and church business.
4. Commitment to ongoing spiritual and professional growth.
5. Commitment to supporting the mission and vision of First Baptist Church.
6. Be conscientious and able to work independently.
7. Maintain a Food Safe Manager Certificate.
8. Ability to work with and support volunteers, members, office staff and ministers at FBC.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
10. Knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
11. Basic knowledge of budgeting and accounting.
12. Excellent knowledge of food preparation and service.
13. Excellent knowledge of health and safety standards which apply to food preparation and service.
14. Be able to stand for long periods of time.
15. Be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Requires (50-75% of the time) standing for long periods of time. Requires (1-50%) sitting at a desk. Requires occasional (50-100%) ability to move freely about the church campus. Requires occasional (50%) bending and reaching. Requires ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Requires occasional (1% - 33%) outside work relating to events. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires the ability to communicate clearly and train and supervise assistants and volunteers.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors in an air conditioned/heated commercial kitchen and fellowship hall. Some outside events may be required.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
Requires operation of commercial kitchen equipment. Requires operation of standard office machines, including computer and adding machine
JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
1. Maintain weekly “in office” hours of 8:00AM to 4:00PM Monday – Thursday. Additional hours on Monday evenings during Share and Wednesday nights are also required. Schedule is based on ministry needs to support events.
2. Prepare and serve daily meals (Mon-Thur) to staff members.
3. Prepare and serve weekly family meals on Wednesday nights to church members.
4. Prepare and serve monthly luncheons to the Primetimers.
5. Prepare and serve weekly (scheduled) meals to Share & Care ministries.
6. Prepare coffee bar for Sunday mornings.
7. Prepare and serve snacks for annual VBS and other special events as directed.
8. Work with vendors in purchasing food, paper and cleaning supplies for the kitchen.
9. Maintain an inventory of food in the freezer and refrigerators as well as dry goods using the FIFO method.
10. Maintain an inventory of all kitchen equipment and service information and schedule service as needed.
11. Maintain an inventory of all decorating items and linens. Check items out as need to various groups for use at FBC.
12. Keep kitchen area and equipment clean. Be knowledgeable about standards set by the Health Department and always meet or exceed those requirements.
13. Lead the bi-annual deep cleaning of the kitchen and equipment.
14. Schedule, train and supervise kitchen staff and kitchen volunteers.
15. Attend monthly calendar meetings.
