Position Description: Full Time Minister To Music

Position Summary: The Minister to Music position will be a strong leader possessing a passion for traditional hymns of the faith as well as contemporary Christian music and the ability to use both in leading our intergenerational congregation in a relevant worship experience. The Minister to Music must have the ability to lead both choir and congregational singing. The Minister to Music must be able to thrive in working in a team environment with the rest of the staff in all aspects of church life.

Reporting Relationships:

The Minister to Music will be under the direction of the Senior Pastor. He will meet regularly with the pastor for planning, brainstorming and evaluation. The Minister to Music will meet weekly with the Ministerial Staff for planning and coordinating of all church activities and events. The Minister to Music will be in a leadership position over all church instrumentalists as well as video production, sound and lighting team.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and be striving to grow in that relationship.

  • Have the ability to read music.

  • The ability to lead congregational singing.

  • The ability to organize, and lead choirs, ensembles, and instrumentalists.

  • A heart for reaching the lost.

  • A passion to involve and equip people for ministry.

  • A willingness to work within a team atmosphere in all aspects of FBC ministries.

  • An understanding of the theology of worship.

Major Responsiblities:

  • Work in concert with the pastor to develop and coordinate music for the worship services that fit the message of the service.

  • Recruit, lead and train the Adult Choir or other ensembles and instrumentalists.

  • Develop key music ministries within the congregation and supervise the organization and direction of such individuals/groups.

    • Organist/Pianist

    • Vocal/Instrumental Soloists

    • Vocal/Instrumental Ensembles

  • Direct, involve and coordinate the video, sound, and lighting technicians.

  • Select music for and lead congregational singing.

  • Schedule guest musicians and groups for concerts.

  • Plan special programs for holiday services.

  • Assist with the maintenance and inventory of the music library, musical instruments, and sound equipment.

  • Create annual budget and operate within the department budget.

  • Arrange for suitable substitute in the event of absences.
